Frequently Asked Questions
Before You Book
What is a Korean Head Spa?
A Korean Head Spa is a deeply relaxing scalp and hair treatment designed to cleanse, refresh and care for the scalp while supporting overall wellbeing. At London Head Spa, each experience blends Korean-inspired techniques, scalp analysis, steam, massage and targeted scalp care to help lift away excess oil, product build-up and impurities, leaving the scalp and hair feeling cleaner, lighter and refreshed.
Our more advanced rituals may also include botanical preparations, water therapy and Korean scalp technologies, depending on the treatment selected.
How old do you need to be?
London Head Spa treatments are suitable for clients aged 18 years and over.
Which treatment should I choose?
If you are new to London Head Spa, the Scalp Reset is a beautiful introduction. For a more complete Hyggee-inspired ritual, choose the Botanical Formula.
For deeper scalp renewal with specialist scalp technology, the Active Elixir is recommended. For the most indulgent and comprehensive experience, choose the Apothecary Method.
If you have persistent scalp concerns, increased shedding or are unsure which treatment is suitable, we recommend booking a Clinical Scalp Consultation first.
Do I need a consultation before booking?
A separate consultation is not always required before booking. Each Head Spa treatment begins with a focused scalp assessment to observe the scalp environment and guide the treatment.
For ongoing scalp irritation, significant flaking, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, increased shedding or uncertainty around suitability, a Clinical Scalp Consultation may be more appropriate before treatment.
Is it suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
London Head Spa treatments are not suitable during pregnancy.
Our treatments are generally suitable during breastfeeding. All products and techniques are selected with care, and no systemic or prescription medicines are used during our Head Spa treatments.
If you are breastfeeding and have any specific medical concerns, allergies, recent complications, or your baby was premature or medically vulnerable, please contact us before booking.
What if I have allergies?
Please contact us before booking if you have any known skin, food, plant, fragrance or ingredient allergies. This allows us to check suitability and advise you before your appointment.
Can two people book together?
Yes, we are now able to accommodate double bookings. As availability is limited, please contact us directly to arrange this.
Hair, Scalp & Suitability
What hair types is this suitable for?
London Head Spa welcomes all hair types and textures. Each treatment is adapted to your scalp, hair density, sensitivity and individual needs.
If your hair requires specialist handling, please contact us before booking so we can advise you.
Is it suitable with extensions, braids, sew-ins or dreadlocks?
Unfortunately, our Head Spa treatments are not suitable for hair extensions, sew-ins, braids or dreadlocks.
The scalp needs to be fully accessible throughout the treatment for cleansing, massage, steam, water therapy and scalp analysis. We recommend booking once these have been removed.
Will a Head Spa affect my hair colour?
For best results, we recommend allowing at least 7 days after colouring services, including tints, glosses or highlights, before attending your appointment.
Recently coloured hair may be more prone to colour movement or fading, particularly before the first few washes have stabilised the pigment. While all treatments at London Head Spa are performed with care, we cannot guarantee the preservation of freshly applied colour if the appointment is booked too soon after a colouring service.
Can I attend with dandruff, flaking, psoriasis or shedding?
Yes, many clients attend London Head Spa with concerns such as flaking, dryness, oiliness, scalp discomfort or increased shedding.
For mild or general scalp concerns, a Head Spa treatment may be suitable. For persistent scalp concerns, psoriasis-prone scalps, seborrhoeic dermatitis, increased shedding or uncertainty around suitability, we recommend booking a Clinical Scalp Consultation first so we can assess the scalp in more detail and recommend the most appropriate pathway.
Our services are designed to support scalp wellbeing and are not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
Do I need to wash my hair before coming?
No. You do not need to wash your hair before your appointment. Dirty or freshly washed hair is fine.
Please avoid applying heavy oils, styling creams, dry shampoo or excessive product to the scalp immediately before your appointment, as this may affect the scalp assessment and treatment process.
The Appointment Experience
What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax fully during your treatment.
Can I wear jewellery?
Please remove earrings before your treatment where possible. This helps ensure your comfort during the massage, cleansing and water therapy stages.
Is the space private and hijab friendly?
Yes. London Head Spa is a private, appointment-only service and is hijab friendly.
Treatments are carried out in a calm, private setting with female staff only. Please contact us before booking if you have any specific privacy requirements.
Will my hair be dried afterwards?
All treatments include a light dry and natural finish.
Please note this is not a professional blow-dry or styling service. If you require styling for an event afterwards, we recommend arranging this separately.
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment times vary depending on the service selected.
The Scalp Reset is 60 minutes. The Botanical Formula is approximately 75–90 minutes. The Active Elixir is 90 minutes, and the Apothecary Method is 120 minutes.
Please allow additional time around your appointment for your scalp assessment, settling in, aftercare advice and light drying to a natural finish.
Booking, Cancellations & Gift Vouchers
What if I need to cancel?
Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment will result in the 50% deposit being retained. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment, or failure to attend, will result in the full treatment fee being charged.
We kindly ask that any changes are communicated as soon as possible. Appointment times are reserved exclusively for you and we appreciate your understanding.
What if I am running late?
If you are running late, please contact us as soon as possible.
A 15-minute grace period is permitted; however, treatment time may be reduced to accommodate the schedule while the full treatment fee remains applicable. Arrival beyond 15 minutes may result in cancellation of the appointment and the full fee being charged.
How do gift vouchers work?
Gift vouchers are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase and may be redeemed against any Head Spa service. All gift vouchers are redeemable against the monetary value purchased. If the selected treatment is priced higher at the time of redemption, the difference will be payable.
Do gift vouchers guarantee a specific treatment?
No. Gift vouchers are issued as a monetary value and can be redeemed against any Head Spa treatment. They do not guarantee a specific treatment or fixed price. This allows the recipient to choose from the current treatment menu at the time of booking.
What happens if treatment prices change?
If treatment prices change after a gift voucher has been purchased, the voucher will still be honoured against the monetary value originally purchased. If the selected treatment is priced higher at the time of booking, the difference will be payable.
I still have a question. What should I do?
